Welcoming the English to Scotland in typical Tennent's Lager fashion
As part of Tennent’s Lager’s ‘Here to Serve’ campaign, we focused on the crunch World Cup qualifier between Scotland and England, basing our creative concept around the insight of Scottish money often being classed as ‘funny money’ south of the border.
Our tongue-in-cheek video featured the Tennent’s ‘currency exchange’, which allowed visiting fans to change their English notes into Scottish ones, so they wouldn’t be penalised by the ‘exchange rate’ in pubs (1 Pint of tennent’s £3.50 = Scottish notes, or £7.50 English notes)
A real world currency exchange was sited in Glasgow City Centre and at Hampden stadium, and the image of our currency exchange A-board for pubs was one of the most successful pieces of social media content ever for Tennent’s.
While the concept clearly conveyed the Tennent’s Lager ‘Here to Serve’ mentality, it sadly didn’t improve our World Cup qualification hopes.
